Long Light Productions ...videography, editing and event documentation.
Bio   I was in the studio audience of a local children’s television program a number of times as a child. I was then, and remain so now, fascinated by everything going on behind the cameras. That was where I wanted to be.  The true inspiration for the path I am now on.

Also in my youth my friends and I would create "skits", short plays that we recorded with a battery-operated 1/4-inch, reel-to-reel tape recorder.  We were dedicated to presenting as much “imagery” as possible that could be “seen” with your ears.  Sound effects were critical to us.  We would practice them over and over again.  The test was to “see” the action with our eyes closed.  Then we would record scenes to play back so we could “act” live to what we had just recorded.  It was a great deal of fun, a lot of work and an opportunity to be creative.

As a young adult I remained involved in audio recording and practiced still photography. While engaged in a business partnership I became exposed to 16 mm and 35 mm film production.  Here was the serious beginning of my interest in motion picture work and the art of editing.

When cable television moved into the city where I was living so did community-media-access.  I began taking classes in videography and television production. The more I learned the more I wanted to know.  I volunteered on a variety of productions in various capacities, in the studio and in the field. My own work acquired a more important focus, if you will, than it had in the past.  Opportunities to gain additional experience and refine my skills continue to be pursued.

My independent productions focus on events of interest and the stories of people and the activities they are engaged in.  Histories of the everyday person, the experiences and recollection of past and present events expressed by those who live them. I hope this may give us insight into the people we really are. I also continue to enjoy creating "skits" for the fun of it; that all-important creative self-expression.

As a confident videographer I am willing to take the position at the viewfinder behind the camera.  Editing is where I prefer to spend the majority of my time for it is the canvas upon which the final production is painted.  Directing is a skill I wish to continue to develop as an additional form of creative self-expression. For me, learning is a life-long activity.
